For Metallurgists

With the Lumo Core Scanning solution, metallurgists gain more accurate knowledge of the ore composition destined for the processing plant, leading to more efficient process optimization.

What is LIBS Technology?

Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a rapid, non-destructive technique that uses a high-energy laser pulse to ablate a small spot on a rock surface. This pulse creates a short-lived plasma — an extremely hot, glowing gas where the atoms and ions of the sample are excited. As the plasma cools, it emits light at wavelengths characteristic of the elements present. The resulting spectral “fingerprint” gives instantaneous chemical information about the material.
